Federal judge dismisses discrimination lawsuit filed against Caesars Palace, Simon Property Group6 April 2011LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Caesars Entertainment Corporation announced today that U.S. District Court Judge James Mahan has dismissed all claims filed by the operators of Poetry nightclub against Caesars Palace, Simon Property Group and associated defendants. The plaintiffs had alleged that Caesars Palace and Simon Property Group had unlawfully restricted access to Poetry, which operated in The Forum Shops at Caesars, because Poetry had a predominantly African-American clientele. The court disagreed with the plaintiffs and ruled in favor of Caesars Palace and Simon Property Group. "We are pleased that after a weeklong trial during which all parties presented their evidence, Judge Mahan found every allegation of discrimination against Caesars and SPG was without merit," said Gary Selesner, president of Caesars Palace. "The ruling is an affirmation of our long-standing commitments to diversity and to providing guests from all walks of life with great service and entertainment." |
