Fantasy Springs hosts Poker Pro Showdown Throwdown

29 April 2008

INDIO, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- There was excitement, anticipation and plenty of loud rock music in the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Poker Room as the air staff at KCLB-FM came out to challenge the best Poker Players in the Coachella Valley at their inaugural "Poker Pro Showdown Throwdown" event on Saturday, April 26th.

The KCLB-FM DJ's including Jace Edwards and his co-host Tank, Jenn Brewski, Patrick Tish and Mike Trash took on a total of 45 players in this single elimination, No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em tournament. The $50 buy-in got the players into the game and allowed them to knock out the DJ's for great prizes. Mid-day DJ Jenn Brewski was the first one to go "all in" and lose. She was followed by Mike Trash, Patrick Tish and Tank. Morning DJ, Jace Edwards was lucky enough to make it to the final table of 10 to determine the winner.

After 3 hours of competition, the winner of the inaugural KCLB-FM PokerPro Showdown Throwdown was Phil Reed from Indio, CA, who pocketed $1000.00; Gary Roettinger of Rancho Mirage, CA came in 2nd place and took home $500.00; Angela Cusolito of Indio, CA placed 3rd and won $300.00 and Cassidy Powell of La Quinta, CA came in 4th place and took home $200.00. If one of the KCLB DJs won, they would have donated their winnings to their favorite charity.

In the second chance game, Betty Eckmanin of Bermuda Dunes, CA won a $200 dollar seat in the Phil Laak "Laak 'Em In" No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em Tournament on Saturday, May 3rd.

With the success of this tournament, you can be sure that another KCLB-FM PokerPro Showdown Throwdown will be coming to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino very soon.
