Eyes on weather and watering for Cheltenham next week11 March 2011CHELTENHAM, England -- A lack of rain over the past 10 days led Cheltenham to begin watering the track yesterday in advance of next week's high profile annual meet, The Guardian reported. Further decisions are expected this weekend on whether the same treatment will be necessary at course areas which host late festival races, The Guardian said. Rainfall or watering is essential to maintain the quality of the track for and during the impending races, the report said. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the popular and prestigious event in the racing calendar. |
