EY announces strategic appointments in Hong Kong and U.S. firm gaming practices30 November 2015(PRESS RELEASE) -- The global EY organization, a leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services, today announced that its Hong Kong and U.S. member firms have made strategic leadership assignments in their gaming practices. As global gaming operators continue their expansions in Southeast Asia, they have been challenged with an increasingly complex business environment. To assist these companies in successfully navigating their multifaceted demands, EY Global Director of Gaming Services Tom Roche will relocate to Ernst & Young in Hong Kong, where he will lead client teams serving Southeast Asian gaming operations, including supporting U.S.-based gaming clients with operations in Southeast Asia. "Southeast Asia gaming operations generate a significant proportion of the revenues of Las Vegas-based companies," said Ernst & Young LLP's West Region Managing Partner Kay Matthews. "With almost 30 years of experience working with market leaders, Tom has witnessed this evolution first hand. While Tom has spent an increasing portion of his time with gaming companies' major operations in Southeast Asia, formalizing his relocation shows EY's understanding of and commitment to the significance of our clients' businesses there." "Southeast Asia is a complex and high-growth gaming center, and I'm excited to be at the forefront of this opportunity," said Roche. Ernst & Young LLP Las Vegas Assurance partner Ryan Cupersmith succeeds Roche as the managing partner for the firm's Las Vegas office. As office managing partner, Cupersmith, together with Las Vegas-based partners Mark Maurer, Ed Koijane and Tim McGovern, and senior partners Ian Eddleston and Robert Bruning, will oversee a practice of more than 80 audit, advisory, tax and transaction services professionals based in Las Vegas. "In Las Vegas, Ryan Cupersmith's deep relationships, gaming experience and commitment to the community position him well to provide exceptional client service and lead our strong team," said Roche. Cupersmith focuses on the gaming industry and spent three years with Ernst & Young in Hong Kong where he assisted in the coordination of its gaming services in the Asia-Pacific region and Australia. He relocated to the Ernst & Young LLP Las Vegas practice in 2009. Cupersmith earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from George Washington University. He is a certified public accountant licensed to practice in Nevada, Maryland and New Jersey, and is a member of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he is a member of its Gaming Conference Committee. Cupersmith also sits on the board of directors for the After School All-Stars of Las Vegas. |
