Expansion to Double Slotworld Size

29 May 2001

CARSON CITY, Nevada – May 29, 2001-- As reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal: “A small, less-than-four-year-old Carson City casino should soon move up a few slots in a list of the capital’s largest casinos.

”SlotWorld, a slots-only casino catering primarily to residents, is nearing completion on an expansion project that will more than double the size of the casino and the number of machines.

”…Slot machines will increase from about 180 to nearly 400, putting it — at least as far as slot machines are concerned — in the same league as the Carson Nugget, Pinon Plaza, Carson Station and the currently closed Ormsby House.

” `It’s a good-sized expansion for a place this small,’ said Thomas Overy, SlotWorld marketing director.

”…Overy said SlotWorld, which opened in December 1997, needed the expansion simply because `we could put more people in the seats than we had seats.’

”…In addition to what’s there now — including a café, bar and the only coffee shop in Carson City that roasts its own coffee — the casino is adding a deli, ice cream stand and pastry shop.

”A new and larger air-circulation system is supposed to keep the air cleaner.
