Ex-Con Back in Court

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: "Convicted video poker operator John 'Duffy' Conley is up to his old tricks again, according to federal prosecutors.

"Mr. Conley, who was released from prison in January 2004 after serving nine years, was arrested earlier this month after investigators found he was 'heavily involved' in gambling again.

"Officially, he's being held for violating the terms of his supervised release, which included a prohibition against gambling and from associating with known felons.

"Yesterday, at a detention hearing in federal court, a judge ordered Mr. Conley to be held in jail. No new charges have been filed against him, though.

"…But Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan T. Conway said another part of detention is to prevent Mr. Conley from committing new crimes.

"…The judge agreed the best place for Mr. Conley was jail…"
