Evidence to be allowed in Venetian gambling loss case

12 January 2011

LAS VEGAS, Nevada AND California -- In an ongoing case a Californian gambler's evidence, so far refused as admissible, has caught a lucky break in the 9th Circuit Court, according to Court House News.

The gambler, Amine Nehme, owes the Venetian a $500,000 gambling debt, which the Venetian are endeavouring to collect, the report said.

However Amine Nehme contends he never should have been given the credit, for the debt incurred playing blackjack, Court House news said.

In evidence deemed inadmissible by the district court, Nehme cites an unsigned letter from an attorney, sent 7 months prior to him incurring his debt, with instructions to cancel his credit account and not renew it under any circumstances, the report explained.

The 9th Circuit court judges chided the District Court for its position on the authenticity of the letter and its postal receipt, Court House News noted.
