Europe's iTV Betting Market Forecasts €4 Billion Turnover

UNITED KINGDOM – (Press Release) -- Europe's iTV betting market is forecast to turnover €4bn (US$4.87 billion) by 2007 with gross margins of €709m (US$864.7 million), according to a report from market analysts Screen Digest.

The report, iTV Betting and Gambling, says that the UK accounts for 76 per cent of this market currently, although this share will drop to 65 per cent by 2007.

Sports betting will account for 40 per cent of the European total in 2007, but won't be the largest sector in the UK. Further, bingo and casino games are a big earner in the UK and Ireland, but in no other European markets, according the analysts.

From 2004, lotteries will start to generate revenues in the iTV space in Finland, France and Italy.
