Eureka Casino Resort named Top Medium Workplace in America

18 October 2019

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Eureka Casino Resort, one of two employee-owned casino companies in the United States, is honored to announce its inclusion in Fortune Magazine's 2019 list of Top 100 Medium Workplaces in America for the second consecutive year. The company was ranked 35th on the list out of 100 companies.

Eureka has been in business for over 20 years and is led by Greg Lee, chairman, and Andre Carrier, chief operating officer. The company was sold to its employees through an employee stock-ownership plan (ESOP) in 2015 under the guidance of the Lee family, who acknowledged the vital role employees play in the success of a business. Lee is excited to earn a top spot on Fortune’s list. He commented, “Our employees have learned that their livelihood, their enjoyment of work, and their daily happiness are all tied together.”

Eureka is a core-values-centric organization, highly committed to treating its guests, communities and employees with care, compassion and dedication. The company continually seeks opportunities to make a positive impact wherever it operates, providing long-term employment and thoughtful engagement in local education and civic causes.

This year, Eureka purchased The New Seabrook Park, formerly Seabrook Greyhound Park, a 75-acre, off-track betting (“OTB”) and casino in Seabrook, New Hampshire, just over the Massachusetts border. In addition to a lively poker room, the park offers table games such as blackjack, roulette and Mississippi Stud. “Our vision of building the largest charity casino in America is coming to life as we prepare to reveal the latest phase of our yearlong remodel. The property is reimagining destination entertainment in New Hampshire,” said Carrier. The state of New Hampshire requires that 35% of all casino revenue must be allocated to local charities. $9.1 million was raised in 2018 by New Hampshire’s 14 active charitable gaming facilities and distributed to hundreds of essential charities throughout the Granite State. “The charity casino structure in New Hampshire is a truly inspired system, one that aligns with Eureka's commitment to community service,” said Carrier. “We intend to lean in and do powerfully good work.”

Recently, New Hampshire became the ninth state to legalize sports betting. Eureka’s Seabrook Park is actively seeking a spot as one of the brick-and-mortar locations in the state to offer sports betting.
