Erie County Joins Lawsuit10 May 2006NEW YORK – As reported by the Buffalo Business First: "Erie County has won a small, but important legal decision in its quest to join a citizens-based anti-casino lawsuit in both state and federal courts. "U.S. District Court Judge William Skretny, in a ruling Monday, agreed to allow Erie County to join a Citizens for a Better Buffalo's lawsuit aimed at preventing the construction of the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino in downtown Buffalo. "Erie County Executive Joel Giambra, last month, had instructed County Attorney Laurence Rubin to argue that Erie County should join the list of plaintiffs in the case. "The lawsuit, in both state and federal courts, is seeking a mandate from the Secretary of Interior to conduct a full environmental assessment before allowing the 100,000-square-foot casino to be built…" |
