England: Ex-cricketer admits spot betting13 January 2012ESSEX, ENGLAND -- A county cricketer pleaded guilty to corruption in court yesterday and will be sentenced in February, the BBC reported. Mervyn Westfield admitted he bowled in a manner that permitted the opposite team Durham to score 10 runs, the report said. Westfield was allegedly offered £6,000 to fix the spot bet during the match this way, the BBC report said. |
