Emeril Lagasse Hosts Kicked-Up Vegas Wedding at the Venetian

15 September 2000

LAS VEGAS, Nevada--(Press Release)--Sept. 15, 2000-- When Sally Giles and Carl Groves of Yorkshire, England, came to Las Vegas to get married, the last thing they expected was to tie the knot in front of an enthusiastic audience of 1,000 on the set of Food Network's ``Emeril Live!,'' taping this week from The Venetian Resort- Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas.

Together for seven months, the couple told their families they were going on holiday together in Spain. Instead, they hopped a plane to Las Vegas, sending loved ones back home a note informing them of their elopement.

The couple were originally set to wed at the Little Chapel of the Flowers, but scouts from ``Emeril Live!'' convinced them to share their special moment in true Vegas style with Chef Emeril Lagasse and the 50 million subscribers who get the popular Food Network show.

Emeril acted as best man, while Minister Charolette Richards officiated over the quickie wedding. Afterward, the newlyweds sat down for a scrumptious feast prepared by Emeril: sweet corn cakes topped with smoked salmon and beluga caviar, sauteed diver scallops in a portobello mushroom emulsion, and a three-tiered wedding cake with marzipan flowers and buttercream icing.

The couple then shared their first dance to ``For the Rest of My Life,'' performed by special musical guest BeBe Winans from his new release ``Love and Freedom.'' Parting gifts included a night's stay in a Luxury Suite at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino, dinner at Emeril's Delmonico Steakhouse, china and silver from Fortunoff's, flowers by 1-800-FLOWERS and bridal gown from David's Bridal.

Emeril and the crew of Food Network's ``Emeril Live!'' traveled to the new food capital of the West, Las Vegas, to kick things up a notch during a whirlwind week of shows, live demonstrations and celebrity chefs at Food Network's ``Food Fest: Las Vegas.''

``Emeril Live!'' taped new episodes on location in Las Vegas at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino Sept. 13-15. Emeril begins his tour of Vegas with ``A Taste of Venice,'' where he explores the culinary history of Venetian food. He then prepares a wedding feast for a real-life bride and groom in ``Emeril's Quickie Wedding Party.''

Next, Emeril takes viewers' taste buds on an experimental journey through the popular foods of the '60s in ``Las Vegas Memories,'' then creates his very own kicked-up buffet in ``Emeril's Ultimate Buffet.'' And finally, Emeril visits some of his favorite haunts in ``Emeril's Las Vegas Hangouts'' and cooks up some fun with musical guest Al Jarreau.
