Emerald Downs Founder Optimistic

AUBURN, Washington – As reported by the Columbian: "…The founder and president of Emerald Downs, the 67-year-old [Ron] Crockett is as positive as he's ever been about Northwest horse racing.

"Crockett points to charts and graphs to prove that his enthusiasm for the business isn't baseless. He said virtually every indicator -- wagering, attendance, television ratings, horse ownership -- has been on the upswing the past few years.

"Crockett, a prominent University of Washington booster and thoroughbred horse owner, opened Emerald Downs at a price tag of $82 million in 1996, four years after Longacres Park closed…"
