Dreamgate Aims to Make Slot Machines

MALAYSIA – As reported by the Malaysia Business Times: "Dreamgate Corp Bhd, which now distributes and assembles gaming machines, wants to manufacture its own slot machines in three to five years and will continue to focus on Asian markets.

"It has started developing its own games via its 50 per cent-owned Japan software firm Cron Corp Ltd.

"The Japan unit started research and development in August 2003 to produce their own Cron machines, and the effort bore fruit last year when the Crons were rolled out into the commercial market in Japan.

"…It is now testing the games at its own locations and in the Philippines. The firm plans to roll out the Cron machines in a big way next year.

"Analysts are bullish on Dreamgate's prospect, saying that the firm is well-placed to ride on the continuous liberalisation in the sector that sees casinos sprouting up worldwide.

"…Besides sales and marketing, the firm also earns a more profitable recurring income from leasing slot machines to casino operators and providing them with technical support."
