Downtown Grand to host pro eSports team for two-month residency6 November 2015(PRESS RELEASE) -- Downtown Grand Las Vegas is pleased to announce that it’s hosting the LA Renegades, members of a newly created eSports team for the world’s top players of the game “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” for a two-month residency now through the end of December. The LA Renegades are a group of five eSports athletes from Australia who are among the world’s elite players of “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive,” a first-person shooter game. Downtown Grand is emerging as a front-runner to capitalize on the immense popularity of eSports. Currently, the estimated U.S. audience of eSports fans is 32 million people, and is expected to grow to more than 50 million by 2017, according to research firm Newzoo. Most of those fans are millennials, a challenging demographic to reach especially when it comes to casino gaming. During the LA Renegades residency at Downtown Grand, the team will play in a private practice room to train for eSports league competitions and host meet-and-greet and exhibition tournament events that will be open to the public. The Commissary Market and Café, located in the Grand tower, will be transformed into an eSports viewing room and lounge hangout. On Saturday, Nov. 21 and Sunday, Nov. 22, Downtown Grand will host the official live viewing party in Las Vegas for Intel Extreme Masters (IEM), an international annual e-sports competition for “Counter Strike” and “League of Legends” players. The LA Renegades will be competing in the tournament in San Jose, CA, but fans will get to watch them compete live at their temporary home base, Downtown Grand. For guests 21 years and older, the IEM party will be located in the Fremont Room and include a giant projection screening of the live competition, as well as Cosplay hostesses from the Summoner’s Café, appearances by professional “League of Legends” player Sky Williams and other surprise guests, swag bag giveaways, a junk food buffet and more. Tickets are priced per day at $20 for viewing and the buffet and $35 for VIP seating and two drinks. Concurrently, Downtown Grand will offer an IEM viewing party in The Commissary open to all ages priced at $10. A $2.50 service fee will be applied to each ticket purchased. Tickets are based on availability, and management reserves all rights. Tickets may be purchased online. |
