Down on the Boardwalk

BILOXI, Mississippi -- As reported by the Sun Herald: "Golden Nugget developers showed city officials plans Tuesday for a casino resort that would be the anchor for a $400 million waterfront attraction called Biloxi Boardwalk.

"It would employ about 3,000 people, 1,800 of them in the casino and accompanying hotel.

"Now, it's up to the Isle of Capri to put forth a better plan if it wants to exercise first option rights for the city-owned property on Point Cadet.

"...The Isle, which is located on the south side of the highway, negotiated a right of first refusal when it signed its lease with the city years ago.

"Executives with the Isle gave no specifics about any expansion plans when they appeared before the Biloxi City Council on Tuesday. The information they presented was limited to reopening plans...."
