Discussion Leads Off Iowa Gaming Application Process4 May 2005DES MOINES, Iowa – As reported by the Cedar Falls Courier: "A discussion of Waterloo's three competing gaming proposals led off an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission hearing here Thursday on a total of 10 applications for gaming licenses around the state. "Steve Dust, president of the Waterloo-based Greater Cedar Valley Alliance, presented results of an Alliance-retained consultant's report, which recommended either the proposed Isle of Capri/Lost Island Adventurepark, or the Cedar Landing Hotel & Casino project downtown, be granted a license. "…The Alliance-commisisoned study did not recomend the National Cattle Congress' Waterloo Greyhound Park site. "Waterloo resident Richard Clary, a financial planner, spoke in favor of the Isle of Capri/Lost Island site and criticized the other two proposals. "…Although the various projects were to be discussed in order, the early portion of the hearing turned into a general discussion of all three Waterloo proposals…" |
