Diamond Jo Plans River Complex

IOWA – As reported by the Des Moines Register: "The Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque said Thursday that it plans to build a $50 million casino complex along the city's Ice Harbor on the Mississippi River.

"The new land-based casino, which will replace an existing gambling vessel, is part of a larger Ice Harbor project with the Dubuque County Historical Society that will include retail, educational and entertainment components, local officials said.

"The Diamond Jo will contribute $12 million in cash and property to the Historical Society, and the society will also receive financing from federal, local and state grants, and private gifts.

"…Meanwhile, the Diamond Jo will construct a 35,000-square-foot casino just north of Third Street in the Ice Harbor. The complex will include more than 1,000 slot machines, 17 table games, a poker room, 36 lanes for bowling and three restaurants. The casino is expected to open in the spring of 2008, said Diamond Jo spokeswoman Carrie Tedore…"
