Developers submit Kansas casino proposals

WICHITA, Kansas – As reported by the Wichita Eagle: "Two groups of developers who have long expressed interest in building a casino in the Wichita area are meeting with local leaders to push competing proposals.

"One is a $300 million plan to buy and retrofit Century II and the Hyatt Regency hotel into a casino complex. The other would spend just as much to build a new complex along a highway north of the city.

"First, voters would have to approve expanded gambling for Sedgwick County in an Aug. 7 election.

"…The major players so far: former Mayor Bob Knight, who heads a development group that is considering Park City, the Kansas Coliseum and Sumner County for a $300 million casino project; and developer Brian Hamm, president of Nova Growth Corp. of Toronto, who wants to build his complex along the riverfront downtown…:
