Detroit women claims $75 million jackpot

LANSING, Michigan – As reported by the Detroit News: "A 48-year-old Detroit woman, who said she's behind on her utility bills, came to Lansing on Thursday to collect on her winning $75 million lottery ticket.

"Loretta Brown, a mortgage loan officer, said her winnings will change her life.

"…'The first place that I am going to go: DTE Energy and I'm going to pay my gas bill. I'm going to pay Sprint. After that? I don't know. I have no clue.'

"Brown said she buys a lottery ticket about once a year and has never won before.

"…Brown opted for a one-time payment of $44.6 million, which will amount to about $31.5 million after federal and state taxes are deducted.

"…Brown said it is important that she protect her privacy. Rules of the multistate lottery require that the winner's name be revealed…"
