Detroit: Revenue down 0.2 percent15 September 2014DETROIT, Michigan -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The three Detroit casinos’ aggregate revenue was down 0.2 percent for the month ending Aug. 31, 2014, compared with August 2013, but August revenue was up 1.2 percent compared with July 2014. Through Aug. 31, the Detroit casinos’ year-to-date aggregate revenue was down 2.9 percent compared with the same period last year. Compared with August 2013, Greektown’s revenue was up 2.7 percent at $27.5 million. MotorCity’s revenue was down 2 percent to $37.9 million, and MGM’s revenue was down 0.4 percent to $47.2 million. At today’s board meeting, the MGCB voted to renew the three Detroit casinos’ licenses for one year. Market shares for August 2014 were: MGM: 42 percent MotorCity: 34 percent Greektown: 24 percent For the month ending Aug. 31, 2014, gaming taxes for the three Detroit casinos were $9.13 million compared with $9.14 million for the same period last year. |
