Detroit Casinos, Unions Continue Talks after Strike Vote

DETROIT, Michigan – As reported by the Associated Press: "Workers at the city's three casinos have voted overwhelmingly -- 95 percent in favor -- to authorize a strike, but contract talks continue.

"Unions representing workers who streamed into Cobo Hall to vote Friday told members they would likely give the casinos two weeks before calling a strike, the Detroit Free Press reported.

"Three-year contracts for 5,900 casino employees expired just before midnight Thursday.

"…`Talks are continuing,' said Paul Krell, Detroit Casino Council spokesman…"
