Detroit Casino Teamsters Win Victory

DETROIT, Michigan -- (Press Release) --Teamsters at Detroit-area casinos have ratified a new four-year agreement. Local 372 represents approximately 370 workers including valet, telephone operators, warehouse workers and coat check attendants at the Greektown, MGM and Motor City casinos.

"We are pleased to have a strong contract in place for our members," said Veronica Stephenson, Local 372 Recording Secretary. "These gains that were achieved by the negotiating committee will ensure that these casino workers can continue to provide for their families."

Highlights of the contract include:

* A $2000 ratification bonus the first year of the contract;

* Second-year wage increases of 2.5 percent plus a $500 bonus;

* Third-year wage increases of 3 percent or 40 cents, whichever amount is greater;

* Fourth-year wage increases of 4 percent or 50 cents, whichever amount is greater; * Maintenance of healthcare benefits with no increased costs to the members;

* A new 401(k) program with company contributions for all workers.
