Delaware Nation lawsuit review rejected

PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the New Jersey Express Times: "The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to review lower court rulings against the Delaware Nation in a lawsuit about Pennsylvania's earliest days as a colony and a case that ultimately could have allowed the American Indian tribe to open a casino in Forks Township.

"The tribe claimed title to 315 acres of ancestral land occupied by businesses, including Binney & Smith, and 25 residences, arguing it was swindled out of the property by the son of Pennsylvania founder William Penn.

"…The descendants of the Delaware Nation, now federally recognized and based in Oklahoma, filed the case in 2004 wanting to build casinos on the land. Representative of the Delaware Nation didn't return phone calls seeking comment Monday…"
