Delaware Eyes Neighbor's Casino Plans11 March 2004DELAWARE – As reported by the Delware Wave: "With a balanced budget and one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation, Delaware has managed to stay afloat in a difficult economy, Gov. Ruth Ann Minner said recently while speaking to members of the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce. "…Minner said she was especially worried about Maryland's and Pennsylvania's possible decision to allow gambling, which could cost Delaware as much as $120 million in lost revenues. "…The competition Delaware businesses face from neighboring Maryland also came up at the chamber meeting when Harpoon Hanna's Manager James Lucas asked Gov. Minner whether Delaware could extend bar hours from 1 a.m. until 2 a.m…" |
