Del Lago announces three artists to perform at The Vine

21 March 2017

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Del Lago Resort & Casino is pleased to announce three additional acts that will take the stage at The Vine. Dwight Yoakam (13 May), Neil Sedaka (19 May) and Sugar Ray (27 May) will perform at the resort and casino's 2,400-person entertainment venue. Tickets for all three shows will go on sale Friday, 24 March at noon and may be purchased in person at the del Lago Resort & Casino box office, by calling the box office at 315-946-1695 or by visiting the website.

Dwight Yoakam is an American singer-songwriter and actor, most famous for his pioneering country music. Popular since the early 1980s, he has recorded more than 21 albums and compilations, charted more than 30 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, and sold more than 25 million records. In September 2016, Yoakam released"Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars…" in the same year that he celebrated the 30th anniversary of "Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc." "Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars…" harks back to that landmark debut in its obviously cheeky title, while otherwise looking even farther back by recasting some of Yoakam's most classic songs in a style that not only predates cowpunk but antecedes his beloved Bakersfield sound. Yoakam says "Swimmin' Pools, Movie Stars…" has been gratifying partly "because the songs feel new for me," and partly because of the proper salute he was finally able to give bluegrass. "I hope we did justice to the legacy of that genre and kept the spirit of reckless abandon," Yoakam said. "When you look back on the '30s and '40s, the bluegrassers were considered the wild men in music — Bluegrass was rock and roll, before there was such an animal. Hopefully we have that spirit in this."

Singer, songwriter, composer, pianist and author — these are just a few of the titles that can be used to describe Neil Sedaka. His impressive fifty-year career ranges from being one of the first teen pop sensations of the '50s, a relevant songwriter for himself and other artists in the '60s, a superstar in the '70s, remaining a constant force in writing and performing presently. This is all thanks to the countless songs he has written, performed, and produced that continue to inspire artists and audiences around the world. The accolades showered on Sedaka have been numerous. Among the honors he has received, Sedaka has been inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, has had a street named after him in his hometown of Brooklyn, and was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With a career spanning six decades, a rare feat in the entertainment world, Sedaka never ceases to amaze.

When Sugar Ray's breakthrough hit song "Fly" put them on the map in 1997, lead vocalist Mark McGrath was thrust into the public eye. McGrath first appeared with Sugar Ray (then known as the Shrinky Dinx) when he jumped on stage and grabbed the microphone. Two years later, in 1994, the band changed its name and landed a deal with Atlantic Records. Following the success of their number-one hit, Sugar Ray released its second album, "Floored," which went double-platinum and then "14:59," which went triple-platinum with hit singles "Every Morning," "Someday" and "Falls Apart." Their success continued with the release of the self-titled album, "Sugar Ray," which garnered the band its first-ever top 10 album. Sugar Ray continues delivering the hits live and with the Summerland tour which combines great bands from the '90s and their top 10 hits, a big hit.

In April, The Vine will also add the Laughing Vine comedy club to the entertainment mix. Every Thursday night The Vine will create an intimate evening of stand-up comedy, opening only the first floor to guests. Tickets may be purchased for $10 in person at the del Lago Resort & Casino box office, by calling the box office at 315-946-1695 or online.

Guests must be 21 to attend all shows at The Vine.
