Death toll reaches 15 in bus crash

14 March 2011

NEW YORK -- The death toll in yesterday's horrific casino bus crash in the Bronx has reached 15, according to the New York Daily News.

The bus was travelling from the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, returning to Chinatown, Manhattan, when it hit a guardrail, rolled onto its side and skidded into a signpost that sliced the bus in half, the New York Daily News said.

Some passengers alleged that the driver, Ophadell Williams, 40, dozed off a couple of times and it is speculated that he may have fallen asleep at the wheel, the report explained.

The National Transportation Board is investigating the black box in the coach and should be able to establish whether the vehicle was speeding and if the driver fell asleep, the New York Daily News noted.
