Dealer Chose to Stop Taking Losers' Money

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the (Australia) Age: "After five years as an exemplary employee at Crown Casino, dealer Karl Metza got sick of watching punters lose.

"His lawyer, Georgia Halikopoulos, told the Melbourne Magistrates Court yesterday that the cumulative effect of the corporate casino culture, such as drink cards and privileges to high rollers, forced Metza, 35, to act. He `simply chose not to take people's money when they lost'.

"…Ms Halikopoulos said her client snapped after watching millions of dollars lost and made a spontaneous decision not to let punters lose.

"A patron reported to casino staff on January 3 this year that Metza had been acting illegally on a baccarat table in the Teak Room.

"…The total amount stolen was $1300. Metza, of Moonee Ponds, who pleaded guilty to four charges of theft, told investigators he had made dealer errors…"
