Day 8 of the WSOP Main Event is here

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The pressure is rarely ever as palpable as it is now on the Sin City Strip, as we draw closer and closer to the finale of the 2026 WSOP Main Event. Only 21 players remain in the biggest poker tournament of the year, with each player not only seeking the $10 million top prize, but a chance at achieving poker immortality.

I. RECENT RESULTS & HIGHLIGHTS

Event #86: $600 Ultra Stack No-Limit Hold’em
Winner: Eric Weber (Blaine, WA, USA)

Prize: $400,000

Key Storyline: Hailing from the Evergreen State, Eric Weber turns $600 into a $400,000 score and his first WSOP bracelet.

Event #87: $1,000 Mystery Bounty Pot-Limit Omaha
Winner: Matthew Shepsky (Chicago, IL, USA)

Prize: $305,000

Key Storyline: Even with an unexpected added day to play, Matthew Shepsky was undeterred, prevailing over 4,764 total entrants to win his first WSOP bracelet.

Event #90: $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em
Winner: Jamie Dwan (United Kingdom)

Prize: $2,276,691

Key Storyline: Finishing in first place from an impressive field made up of top-tier professionals and high rollers, Jamie Dwan wins one of the toughest events of them all to nab his first WSOP bracelet.

Event #91: $1,500 Pick Your PLO
Winner: Sergio Benso (Italy)

Prize: $196,431

Key Storyline: Participating in one of the most unique tournaments of the 2026 WSOP, Italian poker player Sergio Benso displayed his Pot-Limit Omaha mastery to secure his first WSOP bracelet.

Event #82: $10,000 WSOP Main Event No-Limit Hold’em World Championship
Key Storyline: Day 8 of the 2026 WSOP No-Limit Hold’em Main Event begins at 11 A.M. PST. With 21 players remaining, each elimination is worth tens of thousands of dollars, reaching hundreds of thousands as the field begins to thin out.

Malcolm Trayner begins the day as the overall chip leader, coming into Day 8 with a chip stack totalling 63,200,000 (105 big blinds). Notable remaining in the field include 2019 WSOP Main Event champion Hossein Ensan (29,700,000 chips), as well as 2025 WSOP Player of the Year Shaun Deeb (31,300,000\ chips).

Before the action resumes today, here’s the Top 10 Chip Counts heading into Day 8 of the 2026 WSOP Main Event:

Significance: The final high-roller event of the 2026 WSOP is set to begin today, giving some of the best poker players in the world one last chance to shine.

14 July 2026: Event #98 - $800 Deepstack No-Limit Hold’em
Significance: One of the last low-stakes tournaments of the summer, local and visiting grinders will take another shot at bagging a big score.

Media Note: This may be your final opportunity to catch a picture of a large field at this year’s WSOP.

14 July 2026: Event #99 - $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold’em
Significance: The second-to-last bracelet event of the summer, in which a lot of Las Vegas-based pros will look to book a profitable series.

Media Note: Many of poker's young, rising stars will be firing this event, a great opportunity to see who is going places in the poker world.

15 July 2026: Event #100 - $1,000 Super Turbo No-Limit Hold’em
Significance: Officially the last WSOP bracelet event of the 2026 WSOP, players get an opportunity at winning poker’s most coveted prize, a WSOP gold bracelet.

Media Note: With a super turbo structure, Event #100 will only take one day to complete.
