Cyprus: Case dropped against gambling grannies2 March 2012CYPRUS -- The case against a group of gambling seniors has been abandoned after public outrage in response to the case, Reuters reported. 42 women, who were nabbed playing gin rummy at a private home in 2009, will now not face charges, the report said. The women were gambling for very small amounts and socialization, however gambling, whatever the amount, is not currently legal in Cyprus, Reuters noted. |
