Crown Macau Opening Delayed11 April 2006MACAU – As reported by the Australian: "James Packer's Asian gaming joint venture has decided to delay the opening of its $300 million Crown Macau casino project by about six months to next April. "Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd and its partner, Lawrence Ho's Melco International, had planned to open the high-roller casino in September followed by the hotel in the first quarter of 2007. Mr Ho - attending a glitzy ground-breaking ceremony in Hong Kong on Monday for the joint venture's other Macau casino project, the $1.5billion mass-market City of Dreams - brushed aside reports that hitches in the hotel's construction triggered the delay. "…Mr Packer said the City of Dreams project, slated to be opened in 2008, would consist of three hotels and two blocks of deluxe serviced apartments. "He also promised what he described as an 'iconic' performance hall and maintained the casino would feature an 'unprecedented underwater environment'. A statement issued at the ceremony said the City of Dreams would "serenely float above a crystal lake, providing no less than 2000 rooms from unique boutique hotels and themed time-sharing serviced apartments"…" |
