Crime Figures Banned from Australian Casino, Tracks

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Daily Telegraph: "Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon has used new powers to ban 15 people from racecourses and Melbourne's Crown Casino.

"The bans, signed by Ms Nixon yesterday, come as Melbourne enters its main racing season with the Spring Carnival, including the Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate, Derby Day and Oaks Day.

"Last year's Spring Carnival sparked public anger after an alleged underworld figure was seen at Flemington on Oaks Day.

"Police then called for new powers to ban suspected organised crime figures from racecourses, widening powers already in place for banning people from Crown Casino…"
