Cricket fixing trial: Pakistan cricketers guilty of conspiracy to cheat

2 November 2011

LONDON, England -- Three former Pakistan cricketers have been convicted of "spot-fixing" after a trial in London, The Guardian reported.

The convictions of captain Salman Butt and bowlers Mohammed Asif and Mohammad Amir centre on a cricket match that took place last year in London, the report said.

The spot-fixing allegations, which shook the cricket world, involved tens of thousands of British pounds and a complicated criminal plot, according to The Guardian.

The men could face jail sentences of up to seven years, the report noted.
