Craven rejects casino7 November 2006CRAVEN, England – As reported by the This is Bradford: "Craven residents have said 'no' to a casino in the area. "The district council mulled over the responses to a three-month consultation phase at its licensing committee meeting. "Through the Craven Herald, the authority asked people if a 'no casino' stance should be adopted, which would bar any casino licences being issued in the district. "The move followed the introduction of the 2005 Gambling Act, which transferred responsibility for the licensing of gambling premises from magistrates to local authorities. "…A report is now being prepared and this will be put before a full council meeting of Craven District Council when a final decision will be made on its policy regarding casino licences." |
