Cowlitz Tribal Casino Worries Local Group

WASHINGTON – As reported by the Columbian: "A newly formed group is worried the Cowlitz Tribe could end up building its casino near Ridgefield, at a site identified in the project's draft environmental impact statement.

"'No Ridgefield Casino' will hold a public meeting Tuesday night in Ridgefield. The draft study, which was released in April, identifies a 152-acre site along the west side of Interstate 5 near La Center as the preferred location for a large casino complex.

"The document evaluates five alternatives, plus a 'no action' option. One of the five construction options calls for building a large casino complex on 163 acres along the east side of I-5 at the Ridgefield interchange…"
