Court rules for South African casino24 November 2006SOUTH AFRICA – As reported by IOL News: "The Supreme Court of Appeal on Friday ruled that the Desert Palace Casino did not have to pay a penalty of nearly R1,6-million to the Northern Cape Gambling Board. "The SCA upheld an appeal by Desert Palace Hotel Resort against a decision of the Northern Cape high court, which held it liable for the payment to the provincial gambling board. "The penalty of R1,59m arose from the company's failure to pay a gambling levy in respect of its casino in Upington…" |
