Court rules expanded gambling allowed in South Florida

7 October 2011

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- South Florida legislators will not require a voter referendum to approve expanded gambling a Tallahassee court ruled yesterday, according to the Miami Herald.

The initial victor in the case will be Hialeah Racetrack who wish to offer slot machines, according to the report.

The sponsors of a concurrent proposal, that would see three resort-casinos approved without voter approval in Miami Dade and Broward Counties, stated they were encouraged by the outcome of yesterday's ruling, the Miami Herald reported.
