Court: AC Casino patrons can sue

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City — Casino patrons who believe they were duped by false or misleading come-ons by the gaming industry can sue under New Jersey consumer fraud laws, an appeals court ruled Wednesday.

"The case stems from a state Superior Court lawsuit by three women who accused Harrah's Atlantic City of making phony offers in promotional materials the casino sent them.

"A Middlesex County judge who handled the suit ruled that the New Jersey Casino Control Commission, not the courts, had exclusive jurisdiction over disputes involving the promotional offers.

"But a state appeals court overturned the judge, declaring that casino customers can pursue legal claims alleging they were victims of fraudulent or misleading advertisements…"
