Couple Claims Largest Virginia Jackpot

VIRGINIA – As reported by the Richmond Times-Dispatch: "J.R. and Peggy Triplett of Winchester came forward today to claim the largest lottery jackpot in Virginia history. The Tripletts held the only winning ticket in the Feb. 20 Mega Millions drawing that was worth $239 million.

"Virginia Lottery officials had begun to wonder if the winning ticket had been lost or destroyed or had been purchased by someone passing through Virginia who was not aware they had won.

"…J.R. Triplett, a truck driver, purchased the winning ticket at the Red Apple convenience store in Stephens City. Triplett said he frequently buys lottery tickets, but it was his first trip to that particular store…"
