County Funds Approved for Easing Casino Impact21 July 2006WOODLAND, California – As reported by the Davis Enterprise: "As part of the final 2006-07 Yolo County budget, the Board of Supervisors approved spending more than $1 million to ease the impacts of the Cache Creek Casino Resort on the Capay Valley. "Nearly $130,000 is earmarked for the Capay Valley fire districts that are called to assist at Highway 16 traffic accidents. "The board accepted more than $1 million in payment recommendations made by the Advisory Committee on Tribal Matters, but added an additional $54,000 to the rural fire districts' request for rescue equipment. "The Advisory Committee on Tribal Matters was formed to spend millions given to the county by the Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians, who acknowledged in a 2002 agreement that the casino's expansion would negatively impact some people and places in the Capay Valley…" |
