County expected to back Waukegan casino

ILLINOIS – As reported by the Lake County News-Sun: "Lake County officials may go on record in support of the potential siting of a casino in Fountain Square of Waukegan due to the anticipated financial and economic benefits to the region.

"In a 4-3 vote, the County Board's Financial and Administrative Committee passed a resolution Wednesday in favor of the potential casino as a boost to Waukegan's revitalization efforts. The financial benefits to Lake County and local schools and villages and Lake County were also cited.

"County Board Chairman Suzi Schmidt said after the meeting that she thinks the full board will pass the resolution later this month.

"Schmidt said there has been an indication from state officials that increasing the number of casino licenses is under review, with Waukegan as a possible front-runner…"
