County appeals casino deal decision27 June 2007WASHINGTON -- As reported by the Columbian: "In a move that could tie up casino opponents and advocates in court for as much as two years, Clark County will appeal a state hearings board's order to scrap a key county-tribal agreement. "The deal in question would have provided police, building inspection and other services to a proposed casino-and-hotel complex west of La Center at the Cowlitz Indian Tribe's expense. "County commissioners decided Monday on the appeal, saying they want to keep their deal with the tribe and that the Western Washington Growth Management Hearings Board lacks broad authority over it..." |
