Council Bluff Casinos Numbers Mixed21 June 2006COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – As reported by the Daily Nonpariel News: "Council Bluffs casinos totaled $39.1 million in gross receipts for May, up $1.3 million from the same month last year but down about $1.5 million from April's $40.6 million, according to figures released by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. "Horseshoe Casino led the state's casinos in gross revenue for the second consecutive month with $16.1 million from 264,870 guests, down about $300,000 from April, the new casino's first full month of operation. "The figure topped Des Moines' Prairie Meadows $15.3 million and the $14.3 million of Ameristar Casino Hotel, but was less than the $16.6 million in gross receipts collected by Ameristar for the same month a year earlier. "Ameristar's gross receipts were down $2.3 million or just under 14 percent from May 2005 while Harrah's fell $1.9 million or about 18 percent from the same month last year. The Horseshoe's figure was an increase of about $5.5 million from the old Bluffs Run Casino that it replaced. "By comparison, Prairie Meadows was down about $700,000 from May last year, but increased about $1 million from April. The Council Bluffs casinos and Prairie Meadows were the four top-grossing casinos in the state for the month…" |
