Connecticut Tribes Look to Expand

CONNECTICUT – As reported by the Boston Herald: "Connecticut's two giant Indian casinos are now looking to bankroll other Native American gaming ventures across New England and the country in a significant move to expand beyond their Nutmeg State base.

"The $1.5 billion Foxwoods Resort Casino is in talks to provide financial and management backing to a pair of Maine tribes eyeing plans for a `racino' after a state-wide vote opened the door to slot machines at Maine racetracks.

"…The Mohegan tribe which owns the $1.2 billion casino resort, recently cut a deal with a Midwestern tribe with plans to build a roughly $300 million casino outside Chicago…"
