Connecticut Slot Revenues Acceptable

CONNECTICUT – As reported by the Connecticut Day: "Slot machine revenues were respectable at the region's two American Indian casinos in September, even though the numbers did not compare well with last year's figures, executives said.

"Most of Labor Day weekend fell in August this year, so that month's slot machine numbers reflected the huge crowds that traditionally turn out during the holiday at Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun.

"…Still, Mohegan Sun won $64 million from slot machine players, which was 5.7 percent higher than last year. The handle, or total amount wagered in all 6,201 of its slot machines, increased by 2.6 percent to $801.8 million. The win per day per unit remained the same at $326.

"…At Foxwoods, where win and handle and daily win per machine were smaller this September, Chief Executive Officer William Sherlock had the same complaint about the calendar.

"…The casino won $64.9 million, or 2 percent less than Sept. 2002, from its slot players. The handle was 5.4 percent smaller, at $778.2 million, and the daily win per unit for its 6,653 machines was $326, or eight percent smaller than the previous year…"
