Connecticut casinos suffer slot revenue plunge

20 October 2008

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut -- As reported by the Norwich Bulletin: "The region's two casinos Wednesday reported another month of declining slot revenue.

"(September) could be the worst month ever for the gaming industry," Mohegan Sun President and Chief Executive Officer Mitchell Etess said.

"Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun both reported lower revenue last month than in August and lower than September 2007. Etess said Mohegan Sun slot revenue is down 13 percent from last September; Foxwoods is down 16 percent and Atlantic City slots are down 18.6 percent...

"Mohegan Sun in September made slightly more than $67 million in profit from a total slot handle of $780.5 million. It had 6,739 machines in operation. The casino made $75.8 million in August and more than $77 million in September 2007.
