Connecticut Casinos Battle for Slot Revenue16 March 2004CONNECTICUT – As reported by the Connecticut Day: "In the continuing race for slot machine revenue between Connecticut's two American Indian casinos, Foxwoods Resort Casino 'out-handled' Mohegan Sun last month but Mohegan Sun beat Foxwoods in win. "That means more money flowed through Foxwoods' 6,649 slot machines in February compared to Mohegan Sun, but Mohegan Sun won more from its customers by keeping a slightly higher percentage of the cash and coin fed into its 6,248 slots. Foxwoods' handle was $842.4 million compared to $841.2 million at Mohegan Sun; its win was $68.5 million compared to $68.8 at Mohegan Sun. The hold, or percentage of the handle that was kept by the casino, was 8.13 percent at Foxwoods compared to 8.18 percent at Mohegan Sun. "It was a record month for both facilities, and casino executives on Monday praised the calendar for providing an extra business day — a busy Sunday, of all things — on Feb. 29…" |
