Connecticut Anti-Gambling Activist Resigns28 October 2005EAST LYME, Connecticut – As reported by the Norwich Bulletin: "Jeff Benedict has stepped down as president of the Connecticut Alliance Against Casino Expansion to pursue a law practice and fulfill a new publishing contract with Warner Books, organization officials said Thursday. "'I felt that this was the right time to step aside and pursue other opportunities and to see this organization pursue other things besides casinos,' Benedict said. 'Gambling impacts, hearings in Washington -- all of those are necessary and worthwhile goals to pursue.' "Benedict's resignation takes effect Dec. 31. A successor has not been named, but the group intends to continue its anti-casino campaign.
