Commissioners disagree on formal casino opposition

WASHINGTON -- As reported by the Columbian: "Clark County's commissioners said Tuesday that they don't want a large casino outside La Center, but they're unsure whether they'd want to pass a resolution saying so.

"...It's true that all three commissioners would prefer not to see the Cowlitz Tribe build its casino, Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Betty Sue Morris said after the meeting.

"But the commissioners disagree over how to deal with the tribe's plan.

"Morris, saying the county has no control over a federal process, has urged cooperation with the tribe despite what she described Tuesday as an opposition to gambling in the unincorporated county..."
