Commerce Casino offering L.A. Poker Classic satellites

24 January 2011

COMMERCE, California -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- If you're a little short of cash to secure your $10,000 seat in Commerce Casino's 2011 LA Poker Classic Main Event, don't give up your dreams of winning the million-dollar payday and having your name enshrined with such poker luminaries as Gus Hansen, Antonio Esfandiari, Michael Mizrachi and Phil Ivey.

There are lots of ways to get into the Championship event for as little as $40.

And you can take heart from last year's victor Andras Koroknai of Hungary, who walked away with $1,788,040 after winning a $1,050 Supersatellite tournament as his ticket into the main event. That's a 1788% return on investment.

During the 2011 LA Poker Classic spanning 43 days from January 19-March 3, four tournaments will offer a huge bonus to their winner-a $10,000 seat in the Main Event.

Those tournaments are as follows:

Thursday Feb. 10, 1 p.m. No Limit Hold'em ($545 buy-in)
Sunday Feb. 20, 4 p.m. No Limit Hold'em Ironman ($2,100 buy-in)
Tuesday Feb. 22, 4 p.m. Commerce Heads Up Championship ($5,100 buy-in)
Wednesday Feb. 23, 1 p.m. No Limit Hold'em Senior Championship ($545 buy-in)
Another way to claim your seat in the LAPC Championship alongside a hundred of poker's superstars is to win a Supersatellite or work your way up from Satellite to Supersatellite victor.

Commerce, the world's largest poker casino, will offer Single Table Satellites on February 15 to 20 from 2 p.m. to midnight, and then beginning daily from January 21 - February 25 from10 a.m. to midnight. The buy-in for these is from $40 to $1,000.

One $10,000 seat will be guaranteed to the winner of each Supersatellite tournament from January 21-February 23. These 7 p.m. Supersatellites have a $225 buy-in with $200 rebuys.

And if you haven't got your seat yet, there's the $1,050 buy-in Main Event MegaSatellites Wednesday, February 23 and Thursday February 24 at 8 p.m., and Friday, February 19 at 11 a.m., 3:30 p.m., and 8 p.m.

"One of the reasons that this event remains one of the largest on the WPT schedule is that we continue to make it easy for players to get into the LA Poker Classic Championship regardless of their financial resources," says Tournament Director Matt Savage. "We level the playing field so that you don't have to be an accomplished poker pro with a big bankroll to get your shot at more than $1.5 million in winnings."

The LAPC Championship and the World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational are but two of the highlights on a schedule that is generating tremendous excitement for Commerce Casino's 2011 L.A. Poker Classic. The schedule contains a whopping 53 events, conducted over 43 days from Jan. 19 to March 3. Buy-ins range from $125 to a heart-pounding $25,100 High Roller, and the tournaments offer $2 million in guarantees. New this year is a No Limit Hold'em Seniors Tournament. All the action begins with a four-day-start $1 million guaranteed event certain to get players charged up.

Starting time for each event varies, so please check with website for times. The full event schedule and overview for Commerce Casino's L.A. Poker Classic can be found at www.CommerceCasino.com or by calling (323) 721-2100.
